Hartington

HartingtonHartington. [Hortedun] (Old English) heorot ="hart, stag" (Old English) dun ="down, hill".

Hartington is a pretty little village on the Derbyshire/Staffordshire border. The village supports a number of local industries including farming, production of the famous Hartington stilton, a pottery (which is directly opposite our barn), a nuclear shelter (honest!) and a thriving summer tourist trade. Where to eat.

Although not as famous as its big cousin Dove Dale, Beresford Dale is just as pretty and nowhere near as crowded, and the path starts to the right of the pottery.

The rest of this page is dedicated to photos of Hartington and the surrounding area.
