Heights of Abraham. (Tel: 01629 582365). Spectacular cable car ride across the Derwent Valley to the 60 acre summit where your ticket includes guided tours down 2 Show Caverns, Owl Maze, Explorers Challenge, Nature Trail and Victorian Prospect Tower and a play and picnic area. Open daily until 3 November 10am-5pm. Admission charged.

Matlock Bath Aquarium & Exhibitions. 110 North Parade, Matlock Bath (Tel: 01629 583624) Large thermal pool containing various species of carp. Also indoor aquaria, Hologram Gallery, petrifying well, gemstone collection, local history exhibition. Open Monday-Friday 10am-5.30 pm, Saturday-Sunday 10am-10pm. During School Summer Holidays open 10am-10pm daily. Admission charged.

Peak District Mining Museum. The Pavilion, Matlock Bath (Tel: 01629 583834). Displays explaining the history of the Derbyshire lead industry from Roman times to the present day. Explore shafts and levels, climb, crawl, an entire mining experience for all the family. Open daily 10am-5pm. Admission charged.

Whistlestop Countryside Centre. Matlock Bath Railway Station, Matlock Bath. (Tel: 01629 580958) The Derbyshire Wildlife Trust visitor centre and education centre, housed in the Old Railway Station. A free wildlife garden exhibition and wildlife gift shop. Open daily 10am-5pm.
