Comments from the visitors book
Over 50% of our customers come back every year and some enjoy two or three weeks every year in one of our cottages. We are always interested to read the comments in our visitor book. If someone makes a reasonable suggestion (sorry we can't guarantee the weather) we will always try to make sure that this is done. Our aim is to make people feel at home as soon as they walk in the door.
Here, week-by week, (assuming we have the camera with us so that we can photograph them for transcribing later) are the last 20 comments from Willow Cottage's visitor's book.
And before you ask, we have no idea what a 'stereophonic clock' is...

A very warm and cosy cottage. Had a good week, weather not bad (but sometimes not good). Thank you for the milk and biscuits etc on arrival, a very nice touch and very welcome. Hope to come back soon.

Thanks for the milk and biscuits etc. Can't think of any way to improve Willow Cottage - we had a great and very comfortable week. Despite weather being cold (and a bit wet) we were out every day and enjoyed the Peak District and its pubs very much. In joint first place for real ale and food and welcome are the Farmyard and the Old Bowling Green at Winster. Good for a quick two meals for £10 was the Bull. The most extensive menu was the George but we didn't eat there. We expect to be back!

This is our 7th visit to Youlgrave and we must say Willow Cottage is the best we have stayed in. The weather was perfect, we never get fed up coming. Walked to Birchover. The Framyard and Bulls Head were the best pubs with good food. Will be back again next year.

Another great week at Willow Cottage, out every day, lots of long walks, only wet day was Friday so we shopped in Bakewell. The local (village) butchers was well stocked. Don't usually eat pies to we had to try one, lovely. His produce is great. Farmyard Inn is a very friendly pub. Thanks again Linda and Paul, our 5th visit was lovely. Kind regards.

Had a great time, done some good walking, the weather has been good to us. The cottage could not have been better, very warm and cosy. Had a good meal at the Farmyard Inn, also recommend the Grouse and Claret at Rowsley, very good value for money. Hope to come again soon.

Very impressed with the cottage, thank-you for the tea, coffee etc. A lovely village with a lot of friendly residents. Lovely food and a great atmosphere at the Farmyard Inn. Ventured into Bakewell, a lovely little town with plenty of small shops, also lots of places to eat. Had a few great walks with spectacular views. Would certainly like to stay here again. Once again, thank-you.

Another lovely holiday, weather has been beautiful, autumn colours at their best. Cottage perfect again! Farmyard Inn great for excellent food and parking there no problem if you ask Sean (the landlord). Kettles backyard in Middleton-by-Youlgrave a must! Great local artist, her pictures bring many lovely memories back to us. Hope to return again next year.

A week with no rain and two glorious days (Thursday and Friday). Very comfortable stay in Willow Cottage and the tea, milk, etc provided were much appreciated. Two very good meals at the Farmyard Inn - highly recommeneded... It was great to see everything so lush and green - a complete contrast to the landscape back home.

Excellent cottage, clean warm and cosy, what more could we ask for, thanks for the milk etc, saves the Saturday searching. Recommended walk - The six mile walk from Ashford to Monsal Head through the dale and back, also did Lathkill Dale and Dovedale. Food in the village - The George didn't have what we wanted. The Bull - one good and one bad meal. The Farmyard - Sunday carvery excellent, plus two more good meals. Shopping - Peak Village and Masson Mills. If you go for a drive, take the back roads, you can get some wonderful views. Try a drive to Stanton Moor.

This has been our first visit to the Peak District and we have enjoyed every minute! From the cycle ride at Castleton to the 10 mile walk from the very cosy front door, exploring this truly beautiful place has proved to be a very special holiday. The cottage is perfect, the village is England at its very best and we shall soon return! Thank you.

What a great first night entertainment! We had a good laugh reading the two "visitors books" (-:. Lots of "aww's" and "ooohs", the debate about eating places, the wine, and cats and dogs, it was a great guide book for us newcomers to Willow Cottage. The photo book also helped us plan our stay in the Peak District. Thanks! Anyway, we loved this wee cottage which met our expectations. We actually have been great fans of "Sykes Cottages" and a bit cautious about "independent" cottages in terms of their standards. What a lovely surprise to discover this cottage through the Internet! Willow Cottage has got both traditional features and cleanliness that do not always go together. Our third stay in the Peak District was as fantastic as ever! Lots of walking, cycling and visiting stately homes etc. We enjoyed each of these... Food... Yes, we tried the Bulls Head for Sunday Roast, quite good food, I should say, but we had to wait half an hour for the dessert to be served )-: Hollands the Butchers was great. They sell meaty homemade sausages, lovely pork pies, even tasty puddings! We liked their food so much we stopped there three times. Pity that these lovely 7 days have gone and we have to go back to our hectic life in B'ham, but I'd like to come back here in the future. Finally, thanks for helping to make our holiday sweet!
As it seems that I'm the first Japanese person to stay in this cottage, let me thank you in Japanese...

Loved the cottage and the village! Couldn't resist a log fire one evening even though it was quite warm. But when the temp was 25 °C on the last two days, even we gave up on repeating the experience. Thanks for a very comfortable stay - we will recommend the cottage to anyone we know who comes up to Derbyshire.

Our first visit to Willow Cottage but have visited the Peak District many times. Cottage was great for a stay as it has all you need. Scenery around really good and Youlgrave is a great village, not too commercial. Have done some walking and eaten lots of Bakewell pudding!! Made use of local bus to go into Bakewell. We would love to stay again. Video "Made of Clay" in the cupboard a good introduction to customs and life in the village.

Cottage immaculate, lovely and warm and very comfortable - a home from home. The sun shone every day except Friday and we had a lovely holiday. Loved the scenery and the friendly people. Will be back.

Our daughter booked the cottage for a break for our 39th wedding anniversary, and what a find! To come back to a warm and cosy home after a wet but lovely walk by the river, heaven! Slept much better than for ages, must be the air and scenery. Plenty to see and visit round about. Hope to return.

We have visited Derbyshire many times and this time we have had the best of holidays. A wonderful cottage and despite rain every day we have had some great walks. Youlgrave is a very pretty, friendly village and we would love to come back to stay at Willow Cottage.

A fantastic week, plenty of walking, cycling and picnics – what amazing sunshine and a lovely cottage. Nursing rather sore bottoms from being over-ambitious on a tandem earlier this week (28 miles!!). Only complaint was the weather was too warm for us to indulge in evening log fires (hence the remainder of the fuel left for the next guests). Certainly haven’t exhausted what the Peak District has to offer and hope to be back one day soon. Many thanks for a delightful holiday.

Arriving on a cold wet night after getting lost in Nottingham and then looking down a dismal looking alleyway! What an instant revival when we opened the door to Willow Cottage. A warm cosy cottage with real oak beams, a fireplace full of memories and a stereophonic clock! If only that lead miner could return sample all of the delights of Willow Cottage. We’ve had a lovely 40th wedding anniversary away together. We’ve enjoyed the walks around Youlgrave. We loved Bakewell (Monday market day!). We re-visited Castleton (of course!), this time the sun shone! We completed our week with trips to Bolsover Castle, Hardwick Hall and Chatsworth. All thoroughly recommended. A wonderful week, we shall have to return.

First visit to Willow Cottage, our family had recommended Youlgrave to us if we wanted a quiet contemplative rest from modern life. Wonderfully quiet, peaceful and splendid views. Visited Bakewell, Matlock and Rowsley. A pleasure.
